In the Netherlands there are musclecars not super popular, but also in the Netherlands they are pretty much imported. The Mustang provides relatively high horsepower per euro, and now the successor model presented is the previous, fifth generation Mustang, only more affordable.

The car is in terms of styling a modern interpretation of the classic Mustang Fastback from the late 60’s. He was, however, also some outdated technique: a rigid rear axle, no independent suspension. This caused a heavy dose of criticism from the press at the time. In 2010, the Mustang a facelift. The design is tight, the finish is better and the engines more powerful. In 2011, the motoraanbod completely redesigned and appear to be the powerful and relatively fuel-efficient 3.7 V6 (305 hp/380 Nm) and 5.0 V8 (412 hp/529 Nm). In addition, there are many special versions, with as the ultimate beast the GT500 with 671 HP.

• 53% is a convertible, the rest is a coupe.

• Prices start around 12000 euro. The prices run on up to around €50,000, with a few exceptions for very young, almost virgin Boss 302’s and Shelby GT500’s.

Issues

• The finish of the Mustang is not the best in its kind, check whether all the buttons, mouldings, etc. solid feel, both on the inside and the outside of the car. The Mustang convertible is particularly sensitive to rattles, kraakjes and beeps. The more of them are present, the heavier his life probably has been.
• Convertibles of 2005 – 2007 had sometimes problems with roofs that bad to open and close.
• The first Mustangs (year of manufacture 2004 / 2005)) have suffered from a fuel level indicator which is not at all working well. This is usually due to dirt in the tank. The fuel meter is on “empty” and it may be that the check engine light comes on.
• The dynamos are still there. Replace or recondition costs €300 euros approximately.
• Often are Mustangs modified, which is not bad but it can mean that a car much more power and so also the heavier slijtages than a stock car. It can also mean that you are not on warranty / goodwill gesture from Ford need to calculate.
• The standard spark plugs break more often if you want to replace, do this job only if you are not afraid of the consequences. Otherwise, go to a specialist or dealer to make sure that the job is well done. Let not, of course, again the standard Ford spark plugs places.
• ABS was an option on the cars for the facelift, so check this on the car.
• Manual Mustangs gifts, you might have problems, for model year 2011 there was a recall from Ford for the zesbak.
