This is one of 37 ever built California Spider SWB’s, with covered headlights. Found in a barn.
We’re talking about chassis number 2935GT, a dark blue one with matching hardtop. The interior is lined with black imitation leather. The car was once owned by French film star Alain Delon. The state in which the 250 GT is in is unique: unrestored, matching numbers, and since 1971 in the hands of the current owner.
In contrast to the left ex of Alain Delon (English model and actress Rosalie van Breemen) is the Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider, unrestored. In addition, the headlights also beautifully covered.
The history
The car was shown at the Paris Motor Show in 1961, where Gérard Blain the car directly bought, six days after the show he stood on his name. A few years later bought Alain Delon the car from Blain and took him from Paris to Monaco in may 1963. In 1964 he left Delon to Los Angeles, he left the car happened, what the American turn signals on the side of the carriage, explains: the car had to comply with American regulations. The original turn signals are also in the car, by the way. In 1965 the car was sold to the third owner: Paul Bouvot. Bouvot was at that time chief designer at Peugeot. Then reverse the car a few times and the owner, until he in 1971 in the hands of Jacques Baillon, the car contributed to an impressive collection of cars that his father had started.
Fast forward to september last year when was there a barn in the open, behind which 60 unique cars were found. This Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider was one of the gems that was saved. The car is now including a dent in the same boot (unrestored) offered at auction. This car will millions to produce, is estimated to be between €9.5 and €12 million. My conservative guess is that it is something more than that €12 million. How much do you think this car will generate during the Retromobile auction tomorrow?
UPDATE: 14.2 million! More HERE.
