Four spectators, was a unilateral accident with a MINI seriously injured, which the stewards decided the prologue to cease. And that is a pity for Bernard ten Brinke, which is the fastest time set.
A real stage you could have the 11-kilometre-long special stage from yesterday, not to mention, it was mostly a prologue to set the start order for today to determine. The motorcycles and quads were all ready on the trail, when disaster struck. The Chinese Guo Meiling (see photo), Dakar-debutante, lost the power over the wheel of her X-Raid MINI and drove into the audience.
It became four spectators seriously injured, reason for the organization of all available medical teams and three available helicopters to the scene of the accident to send the race until further notice to stop. The victims are as yet unknown injuries to the closest hospitals, about their situation, nothing is yet known.
It quickly became apparent until further order be final to mean, because the prologue would not be resumed. A pity, because no one less than our own Bernhard ten Brinke knew his Toyota surprisingly the fastest on the course to steer, even for big names like Carlos Sainz and Xavier Pons. The trucks are at all had not started yesterday and will today for the first time in action.
