I have a hate love relationship with the E-Type. Sometimes I find him beautiful (that is, almost without exceptions, the Series 1), I sometimes find an exaggerated and oddly proportioned car. This copy, which is currently being auctioned at BVA, it is indeed a Series 1 from 1966, but also the less popular and much less beautiful 2+2, with higher roof and longer wheelbase. A vending machine also please note. And yet, I find him fantastic.

That has everything to do with the current state of the car. This has since 1977 in a shed and sleep, and was probably already not in the best optical condition when he was dismissed. A lot of sanding and plamuurplekken, but of course that is better than rust that since 1977 its course. The interior looks pretty neat, and can especially be a dust cloth.

Of course, you can use the E-Type again all the way to former glory restore, but that would not be my choice. Technically again tip-top and the body conserving in the current state. Excellent, that brown with the spots, the deployed (for) and extended (rear) wheel arches in combination with the deep steel rims. Only the mirrors could make for dull chrome instances on the front fenders.

With still a week to go, there is currently only 1 bid of some 14 600 euros. Unfortunately so, already outside the range of the undersigned, but who knows, you have to have just a fun thirteenth month?
