Belgian nuclear power plant until later restarted

PURPOSE –

The Belgian nuclear reactor doel 3 is expected to pass on January 6, reboot. That said Els De Clercq, spokesperson for Electrabel, to VRT News. The reactor, which is near the Dutch border, would Monday will start again, but there is a new problem popped up.

Goal 3 was on Thursday shut down because of a leak at a weld, in the non-nuclear part. The outage would “show up to take a few days”, they said Friday. Goal 3, one of the two so-called scheurtjesreactoren, was just four days before restart, after more than a year to have at all.

“We have noticed that there is also a small problem with an electrical circuit. Also that we want to recover”, said De Clercq. “We need the help of a specialized company, but that’s hard on the location to get because of the holidays. We have the planning, review, and estimate that the reactor on 6 January can start.”

Also, Goal 1 is still quiet. Would normally the reactor, one of two reactors whose service life is ten years, Saturday night again on the net to be connected. But “due to a new estimation of the work” was postponed. The new opstartdatum is 31 december.

Goal 2, the other reactor whose lifespan was extended, was on Thursday again started up and delivered Saturday already, the full 100 percent power. Also, Goal 4 is running at 100 percent.
