The Reasonably Priced Car was a concept in the old Top Gear, but with the advent of the new format for the car show is also the Opel Vauxhall Astra is unnecessary. And it was auctioned for a good cause.
The three new presenters of Top Gear will have as their guests, not in the Astra, that is clear. The Astra has only 2908 miles driven (4680 km) and is naturally equipped with a number of goodies that our Junkyard Racer would not look out of place: Corbeau bucket seats and a full roll cage for example. A drawback is that the airbags are disabled and that as a result the type approval is not valid currently.
In the time that this 1.6 Tech Line was used reason, among others, Will Smith, Joss Stone, James Blunt, Ed Sheeran and Steven Tyler with the Astra their times on the Top Gear Track. The fastest time was set by singer-songwriter Olly Murs.
The large uitgewoonde Vauxhall Astra earned £17,800 British Pounds. The proceeds will go to BEN, a foundation dedicated to people who are in the automotive industry are employed, or have been but who now need help because they (partly) become unable to work, or because they aid to be able to use them because they, for example, a child with severe disabilities.
