Operator MTS has signed an agreement with Ericsson. In the framework of the cooperation they intend to develop and implement technology swahi fifth generation in Russia.
MTS and Ericsson are going to explore, to shape technical requirements for the 5G standard, and in 2018 will test the connection of new generation in a special area on the world football Championship-2018 in Russia. In addition, the agreement provides for the launch of a pilot project for LTE-U (LTE-Unlicensed)/LAA (Licensed-Assisted Access) that will use the LTE radio interface in the form of unlicensed 5 GHz band with access points Wi-Fi. In 2017 it is expected the pilot run the solution with 5G data transmission in the range of 15 GHz.
Theoretically, 5G network will receive speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, 30 times greater than the 4G. As planned, the international telecommunication Union, the standard will be implemented by 2020.
We will remind, a year ago, Huawei and MegaFon have agreed to work together for the creation and implementation of 5G networks in Russia. The company is also planning to test the new standard on CHempionat world Cup 2018.
