A twin turbo V8 with 540 or 570 hp, a lightweight carbon fiber chassis and a mid-engine packaging. More, you don almost not to know, or it should be the top speed of 328 km/h.
The first McLaren with make-up mirrors
For you may, surprisingly enough, turned out the me in the other mclaren’s have not noticed that they were missing. I had no idea that my hair could not check-in in the 12C, 650S and P1. That McLaren I now have to admit, has to do with the mission that the Sports Series (540C and 570S) on the path are sent. These are mclaren’s, daily driven, must be able to be, and that means that there have to be admitted to the earthly needs of the puppets in the cabin. So is there a glove compartment, small pockets in the doors, make-up mirrors, a better entry, and even a B&W upgraded stereo system with a lot of speakers to get.
McLaren is on a roll
If we are the iconic F1 for convenience, just skip it, then the car manufacturer McLaren not yet five years old, but knew with every year a new modelvariant to introduce. In 2011, the firstborn with the difficult name MP4-12C (later renamed to 12C), in 2012 was followed by the 12C Spider, in 2013, the P1 and, in 2014, followed by the 650S as a coupe and spider. This year they make it even better, because we saw the birth of the 540C, 570S, 675LT and P1 GTR.
Make a profit since 2013, and this year is going so well that they have the R&D expenditure by 30% (!) increase to 120 million pounds. In the coming years, there will still be much beauty from Woking, including in any case the two cars in the Sport Series. A Spider goes there, of course, but about the other variant keeps McLaren the lips stiff on each other.
NO SUV
It is certainly the most growing segment worldwide and has Porsche a lot of success. It still makes the McLaren the choice to definitely not the way to go. Hard to grow and be great does not belong to the objectives. Last year they built more than 1600 cars and in 2017 there should be 4000, but in 2025 also. The biggest are the need financial and McLaren will also be clear. Such a refreshing choice also says something about the mission that McLaren street-legal car’s build.
Carbon only
If you like McLaren says, then you also say carbon. The British were one of the first to carbon fiber (carbon) to fit in cars. Since McLaren’s carbon chassis introduced in motorsport with the McLaren MP4/1 in 1981 – and then in the McLaren F1 for the road in 1993, the only cars with carbon fiber chassis produced.
The Sports Series (540C and 570S) so as to have both a full carbon fibre chassis, which despite the emergence of lightweight materials is still extremely. For the 540C and 570S used McLaren new versions of the carbon fiber chassis, the MonoCell II that are less than 80 kilograms in weight. The lower and narrower sills make a slightly easier entry.
Unlike the 650S is not every body panel is carbon fibre made. For cost reasons we have chosen to use a large number of parts of aluminum material. The commitment to minimalism is not only in weight savings, but also in striving to be the package space of components as small as possible. Another example: the reverse light is combined with the fog light and weighs only 50 grams.
Very, very, very fast

Despite the similarity with the block of the 650S and 675LT is still about 30% of the parts of the engine differently. Cylinder heads, turbos, crankshaft and intercoolers differences with the larger brothers.
The price difference between the 540C and the 570S seem substantial, but the equipment is also a lot better. The 570S, for example, has standard ceramic brakes, more pieces of leather in the interior, and optionally more carbon items such as the diffuser.
A supercar for everyone
This may sound boring, our supercars we have, after all, as dragons: igneous, drivers, tenebrous, and with a rough edge to it. That does 570S not, or better yet: not if you don’t want that. The emergence of electronic auxiliary systems should you, as a reader, not unknown. Of course the baby-Macca’s traction control, ABS and ESP, but kept them in Woking. The centre console features two knobs: one with the H of Handling and one with the P is for Powertrain. On both dials, there is the opportunity to bake in the manual mode and the ESP partially or completely off.
It’s not all new, but the implementation of McLaren is very good. About the adjustable dampers I can be brief: nice and large differences between the three positions that there really is a lot to choose. In none of the three stocks is really uncomfortable, the “Track” mode is also usable outside of the circuits with knives & blades smooth asphalt.
The options for the Powertrain to make it really special. Switch from Normal to Sport and the interaction between the bak (7-speed SST dual clutch) and engine changes. Cylinder Cut technology interrupts the ignition, but the fuel is injected. That ignites so with a nice sound and optional flames in the exhaust. In the Track mode goes one step heavier to Inertia Push that with stored kinetic energy of the 570S even more toxic during up-shifting.
The ESP late in the normal position already a little movement, but if the occasion occurs, you as an experienced driver with an “invisible hand” to experience the car within the white lines. Of course, the ESP is way off, but the “intermediate” Dynamic for most drivers already fun enough. Oversturend the curve of acceleration with a quarter turn tegenstuur may of the system. With all systems in full-attack mode in the back, in the measurement of the curve is looser, especially on the circuit is good to have the car already a bit.
Why is it a supercar for everyone? In the full-attack-mode Verstappen-wannabees with or without a safety net (ESP) can play. Need to do it all is not so rough, for example because there is a need for further additional espressootje to the inside to be poured, then makes a selection for modes, Normal and Sport, the 570S have a much friendlier customer. There is more trust than the 570S, the reins still more to celebrate.
Conclusion and competition
For two t as there are several sporty cars in sight, but the only one with a mid-engine is the Audi R8. Other competitors are the Porsche 911 Turbo (S), Ferrari California and the Mercedes-AMG GT. Of this list is the McLaren the most special in terms of brand, layout and use of materials. And all that for a rent of 1349 euros for the 540C. Daydreaming about a next company car was never so much fun, I am very greedy. Movie!
