Created implant, which eliminates excess weight and overeating

Only according to official statistics, in the world there were more than 700 million people suffering from excess weight. Therefore, the question of dealing with it rather important. For various reasons the “traditional” methods of struggle like diets and sports are not effective or not suitable for everyone. And soon such people may come to the aid science, providing a microscopic implant that will help you to lose weight.

For the development of the instrument responsible scientists from the University of Wisconsin. The new implants, interestingly, do not need a battery to supply power, so you can use them as much as you need without recharging. The microimplant is a small plate that can be placed in the region of the stomach using minimally invasive procedures. The gadget emits a series of electrical impulses to a wandering nerve, causing the brain to believe the body fed even after small portions of food.

“Electrical pulses correlated with the motions of the stomach, enhancing the natural response to food intake, helping to reduce the size of the portions.” — says one of the authors Professor Sadun van.

As reported in Nature Communications, during laboratory tests of the implant, the researchers tested its effect on rats with obesity. As a result, all the animals during the experiment lost about 40% of body weight simply from the fact that eating much less than before.

Unlike gastric bypass, which permanently alters the capacity of the stomach, the new procedure is fully reversible. When scientists removed the devices after 12 weeks of use, the rats again began to eat normally. The device does not require maintenance and for power uses energy-reduction the stomach walls to recharge their internal batteries. Such systems have already received approval from the FDA, so that the output on the market in the near future is very probable.
