In Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey found the artificial prohibition of work on older processors

After the release of the new game Assassin’s Creed Odyssey it showed up a nasty problem — it refuses to start properly on some systems.

As it turned out, the game requires a CPU with support for AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) — extension of the command system for the x86 microprocessors from Intel and AMD proposed by Intel in March 2008.

The problem was of sufficient magnitude and Ubisoft has responded to user complaints. She promised that it will release a special update that will add support for older CPUs without AVX instructions. Not yet announced the exact release date of updates, but work on it is already underway.

The release of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey took place on 5 October 2018 on Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
