VAG-burn in the incoming.
The French PSA group, with the brands Peugeot, Citroën, and DS under his care, is in the midst of dieselgate with a remarkable step: from the coming of spring is planning the fuel consumption and emissions of its models are no more according to the standardized NEDC-directive to measure, but according to ‘real world conditions’.
The ever-quirky French wait not until the Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) is finally ready to be imported into Europe to be (there is something to be said, this can still last forever stretched), but draw their own plan. The move has especially PR value, because (a) tests are not for nothing standardized (equal outcome), and (b) in the autofolder and at the RDW, you as a manufacturer not covered by the NEDC procedure.
Independent body
Very concretely, this is PSA, not yet, but it indicates that ‘an independent body’ to monitor the new verbruiksmeting. This is performed on the best-selling models of the group (such as the above, 208), and will only fuel consumption and CO2 measurement. No NOx measurement, the automaker whose diesel cars in Europe 65% of the total sales.
The fact that not all models of such a new test shows that we have the initiative, especially if service/boasting/show that PSA is a very fuel-efficient engines can build* must be viewed, in addition to the standard test methods. But it is mostly a long French nose to the Volkswagen group.
*cross out what does not apply.
