At IFA 2018, which runs from August 31 to September 5 in Berlin, Qualcomm presented a new Adaptive audio codec aptX. It is positioned as the new generation audio codec is capable of dynamic reconfiguration.
According to the manufacturer, the codec combines high reliability, high sound quality, scalability, low latency audio transmission with a low bit rate. This is especially important when using wireless audio devices for gaming, watching videos and listening to music.
AptX technology Adaptive is designed to automatically adjust and provide the optimum sound quality or latency depending on the type of content played on the device, and given the state of radio to support reliable connections.
As emphasized by the developer, to improve the sound when making a phone call is significantly different from the optimization when playing music or audio content in applications where delay is critical as, for example, it happens in games.
Adaptive Adaptive decoder, aptX for devices such as headsets, headphones and speakers will be available to consumers for single-chip Bluetooth system lines CSRA68100 Qualcomm and Qualcomm QCC5100 from September 2018. It is expected that the Adaptive version of aptX for devices such as smartphones and tablets, will be available on the Android platform P from December 2018.
