AMD has announced the start of sales of the first processor Ryzen Threadripper the second generation. Monster AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX has 32 cores and 64 threads.
The original debut of AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2 was held at the Computex 2018, which was held from 5 to 9 June in Taipei, including the first public demonstration of the flagship chip.
New AMD Ryzen Threadripper are based on the 12-nanometer architecture Zen+, while last year used a 14-nanometer Zen. They also use the socket TR4. Such processors are focused on demanding tasks such as rendering, post-production and final video editing, encoding and so on. According to the manufacturer, the flagship model delivers up to 53% better performance than the best CPU competitors.
