The Reebok company engaged in the manufacture of sports clothing and equipment, has introduced a new sports bra for women that change their stiffness depending on activity exercise. The novelty has received name PureMove, and as the site says Fast Company, uses technology that is used in the production of bullet-proof vests, space suits space Agency NASA.
The development of a new sports bra started about three years ago, when designer Reebok Daniel Vitek, reading one of the scientific magazines, faced with one of the varieties of the dilatant fluid. Gel-like substance was developed in 2005 by scientists of the University of Delaware. Its feature is the viscosity, which increases with the rate of shear strain. Such fluids are one of the types of non-Newtonian fluids.
Witek contacted the developers of the gel, and then created a material with the technology of Motion Sense Technology, where the liquid is sealed into the fabric. The idea is that at high physical activity medium (e.g., when Jogging or serious physical exercises) when you want more active support breast, bra, thanks to this liquid, shrinks, providing more compression. When the user reduces the burden and does a more relaxed activity, such as yoga or stops physical activity, the bra is stretched, becoming more free. Thanks to this feature, a new sports bra can be called truly universal, because due to its technology of adaptability he is able to provide the perfect balance between comfort and support.
By the way, another sportswear company, Nike has developed and presented this year the adaptive sports bra. Only instead of the dilatant liquid, new from Nike uses a combination of foam bases having the properties of stretching at rest and become more robust under load.
Journalist portal Fast Company tested the new product from Reebok like under load and relaxed wearing and were satisfied:
“I liked that I barely felt the bra. It does not restrict my movements when I worked in the gym. When you rest, too, with the necessary support didn’t have any problems”, — the journalist noted.
To Reebok saying that if the novelty will find interest among buyers, the company will consider the possibility of adapting the technology into other subjects of their sportswear.
