First jet aircraft, the Mitsubishi will begin operation in 2020. Take a look at the prototype

MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet) will be the first passenger jet, made in Japan. Its production will begin in the very near future. Flights should begin in 2020. Company Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation went long on this and still came.

As MRJ project appeared in 2007. The planes were to begin flying in 2012, but the company has faced difficulties in development. The first flight took place only in 2015, and the prototype managed to produce only recently. It seems that now the case in the project.

Alex Bellamy, chief developer MRJ told Business Insider that all of the major problems identified during the first 1000 hours of test flights. Today MRJ has passed 2000 hours. The company is now focused on the production of MRJ-90 with 88 seats by 2020. A little later, we’ll see the model MRJ-70 with 76 seats.

MRJ will compete with the Bombardier CRJ and Embraer E-Jet. The aircraft will be the first Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, but this does not mean that the company can be called a newcomer in the industry. For a long time it was a supplier of components for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Thanks to the colleagues from Business Insider we can look at the prototype MRJ, which was shown along with the new Gulfstream.

Jet aircraft engines manufactured by Pratt & Whitney. They need to make the MRJ is 20 percent more efficient from the standpoint of fuel consumption than other passenger jets.

MRJ can fly 3,700 kilometers. Salon in prototype today is very brutal, but you can see how it should look in the future.

In 2020, the MRJ needs to take on Board passengers. It will be the first made in Japan passenger jet.
