Presumably, the transition can touch iPhone that will come out in 2019 because of the deal for 2018 have already been concluded. Note that Apple has for years relied on Qualcomm’s chips, but a couple of years ago added Intel as a manufacturer of modems.
The current generation iPhone works with LTE modems, Qualcomm, and Intel. While Apple is embroiled in a judicial confrontation with Qualcomm. Among other recriminations Qualcomm unhappy that Apple decided not to use the full performance of modems Qualcomm in the iPhone 7, nullifying the speed difference iPhone based on Qualcomm chips and devices with chips from Intel.
This can lead to failure and chips from Qualcomm. In addition, Apple is developing its own modems to reduce dependence on third-party manufacturers.
