In June last year, gaming company Atari has announced a new retro-gaming console Ataribox, and after some time went on IndieGoGo to collect enough money to implement the idea. Eleven months later, it became known that the new console, whose design is inspired by the classic Atari 2600, called the Atari VCS.
Unfortunately, details about her “stuffing” developers are still not reported, but the exhibition GDC 2018 representatives of the company demonstrated prototype non-game consoles.
We already know that VCS has a HDMI connector, Ethernet port and has four USB ports. In addition to classic gaming controllers the console will support advanced wireless gamepads. Price of basic package will be around $ 300.
Earlier it was reported that pre-orders for the new console, the Atari will start to take in April 2018, but that was before the company faced some problems during the development phase, so its release can migrate. It is very likely, because so far nobody heard anything about the starting lineup, and indeed that there will be for the game.
