Juncker: Europe needs a single border

Europe has one limit and that is the responsibility of all European states. Then hammered Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, on Wednesday in a debate in Strasbourg in preparation for a summit of EU leaders Thursday and Friday in Brussels.

“We Europeans do not have many boundaries, we have one and it is our common responsibility to protect,” said Juncker. He defended proposals for a European coastal and border guards that may last noodmiddel against the will of a country may intervene to the external borders of Europe to be monitored.

“This is the missing link, so that Europeans may live as they are accustomed to,” he said. “Crises have taught us that national measures are not sufficient to cross-border problems.”
