News Agency Kyodo reports that the state postal service of Japan intends to test the quality of unmanned vehicles using one of them to transport mail from one post office to another.
“It is for modern cars equipped with autopilot function. In addition, Newspapers will help once again to test these vehicles in an urban environment”, — assured the representatives of the organization.
A few days ago in Tokyo have already been presented an Autonomous car, decorated with logo and painted in the corporate colors of mail Japan. A solemn demonstration was also the announcement of the test, during which loaded the mail machine will have to drive about two kilometers from the headquarters of the Japan Mail to the other offices that are located in the nearby area. Along the way, the machine will make one stop. The time and place of test administration mail did not disclose, but the company’s representatives do not exclude that in the future will use Autonomous cars to deliver letters and parcels everywhere.
Japanese companies are actively exploring the possibility to use technology of self-driving cars. Earlier it became known that the Japanese authorities intend to bring unmanned taxi on the streets already for the summer Olympics 2020.
