Therefore, in some cases, resort to transplant skin grafts, but in the future, and it may not be necessary, because Russian specialists have created a special type of bandages that improve tissue regeneration.
For new development meet the staff of the National research technological University (nust) “MISIS” under the leadership of Anton Manahova. The creators of their development called “living” bandages. They represent a multi-layer biodegradable nanofibers from polycaprolactone. This compound accelerates wound healing and stimulates cellular regeneration of epithelial tissues of the skin, preventing scarring. The fact that the scars are not elastic, they do not regenerate sweat glands and hair follicles, they are more sensitive to ultraviolet rays and generally can’t perform all the functions of the skin.
But back to “living” bandages: polycaprolactone yarns in their structure modified in a way to keep himself on the proteins of blood plasma, platelets and anti-bacterial agents like silver nanoparticles or antibiotics. Antibacterial agents reduce inflammation and plasma proteins with platelets improves regeneration by stimulating skin cell division. Plus new material in the fact that these bandages do not need to change: after some time, they just “resolve”, giving way to new tissues.
Now the authors, together with colleagues from Scientific research Institute of experimental and clinical medicine in Novosibirsk, successfully completed a series of preclinical studies and expect to start the first clinical tests.
