Opened the enzyme, the activation of which increases life expectancy

The issue of increasing life expectancy today is one of the main places in modern medicine. During the various surveys were able to achieve sufficient success in the field of life extension in Drosophila, rodents, mammals and microorganisms, but the problem is that the person is not one of the many ways doesn’t work. However, as the newspaper writes Eurekalert, a group of researchers from the UK and the Netherlands were able to find a universal enzyme that can prolong life. And he is present in all living organisms.

“Magic” enzyme is called RNA polymerase III (Pol III). According to the results obtained in the course of research, the lifespan of yeast cells, flies and worms increased by 10% on average even with a slight decrease in the activity of Pol III and the body adults. While previously it was believed that the enzyme RNA-polymerase-III has no effect on the rate of aging.

During the survey, the experts found out that regardless of the method of inhibiting the enzyme (and the methods used are very different — mutagenesis by injection, RNAi and other methods of editing enzymatic activity) results were positive in all living organisms. Also found out that the enzyme Pol III have not only lower forms of life, but also mammals. Moreover, in mammals it is in the active state, so reducing its activity might also contribute to the increase in life expectancy.
