Hemisphere — the best accommodation for Mars

To this conclusion came the jury of the international competition of City Design Mars 2017, the results of which first place was awarded to a team of developers and designers from MIT, who presented his vision of the Martian cities of the future. Redwood Forest (“Forest of redwoods”) is the design concept of the alien city — represents the interconnected tunnels of the hemisphere within which future Martian colonists will be able to live and work.

Hemisphere from inside will resemble the crowns of the trees, as they are encouraged to create branched structures, covered with an inflatable membrane shell. The design of each dome may vary, so they can be adapted not only for work but also for a comfortable existence. Inside, you will have public spaces, gardens or even ponds.

The water also did not forget to pay attention to: solar energy collected by the domes, the water will go inside the porous coating of the domes, providing residents with protection against radiation and overheating. The heated water can be used for irrigation of plants and needs of the residents.

In the next five years Elon Musk is going to send to Mars the first spacecraft, so we cannot exclude that a similar project Mars city will be implemented much faster than it may seem.
