Russian scientists have found a way to control nanoparticles in the human body

The use of nanoparticles in medicine is a very promising development. But there is this technology and a significant disadvantage: expensive to produce nanoparticles are extremely targetirovanie. That is, do not apply where and are scattered throughout the body, which significantly reduces the efficiency of application. But recently, researchers of Baltic Federal University of Immanuel Kant, together with colleagues from Ural Federal University and Institute of Electrophysics, Ural branch of RAS found a way to control the nanoparticles inside the human body.

Article about the new technology published in the journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. And as the authors point out, nanoparticles can be used in the field of magnetic biodetection. This is a diagnostic procedure that can determine the state of the organism in the interaction with the magnetic field. The fabric itself is extremely insensitive to the magnetic field. Therefore, in the body to increase the sensitivity, you can enter a magnetically sensitive substance.

“The device through which biodetection, is called a biosensor. It allows for the collection and storage of information about biological system (in particular, on the human body or parts of it) in automatic mode. In the composition of the magnetic biosensor employs at least two magnetic material: sensing element, registered a weak field, and nanoparticles. The change of the magnetic field in such a biosensor is converted into a frequency change, current or voltage. In addition, magnetic nanoparticles are able to enter the cells selectively. For example, in cancer cells that allows to diagnose the presence and location of the tumor. The same nanoparticles can be used in the treatment of the same cancer: alternating electromagnetic field, in certain conditions, leads to rapid heating of the nanoparticles inside the tumor cells that destroys them. Even when installed outside the body (but in the area as close as possible to the tumor), the sensor fields with intravenous administration of magnetic nanoparticles allows for signal strength to accurately determine when to start heating and to reduce the risk of introducing an excessive amount of nanoparticles in the body.”
