BMW will release a wireless charging station for cars

BMW is going to release a wireless charging station for one of their cars. And it is not about a wireless docking station for smartphones. The wireless charging technology on the market and there is already not one year, but for cars this feature will be a novelty.

The charging station will be used for the hybrid model 530e iPerformance and connected to the socket 220 V. then installed on the vehicle sensors will tell the driver where you want to put the car to its battery to communicate with the station, as shown in the video below.

According to BMW, charging the battery of 9.4 kWh model 530e occurs in approximately 3.5 hours with a power of 3.2 kW, which is close to the level of charge using the cable. As the representative of the division of BMW North America, the journalists portal the Verge, the technology is still being tested and is currently assessing the appropriate authorities in the United States and Canada.

As for the other countries, there is BMW planning to release this wireless charging station in the beginning of next year, but again only for the model 530e iPerformance. Other models iPerformance series, including 330e, 740e, X5, and a fully electric i3 and i8 will receive the support of this technology later.

Despite the fact that more precise information about the launch of the charging station and its future price, yet, BMW could become the first automaker to offer this technology.
