Severe thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds of 100 kilometers per hour Sunday a trail of destruction drawn up by the west of Romania. Eight people came, according to the emergency services to the life, and at least 67 others were wounded.
The road and rail traffic in the region came to a standstill by uprooted trees. Of several hospitals, schools and homes, the roof was blown off. Dozens of towns and villages were without electricity and some without water.
,,The weather is not to fight,” said prime minister Mihai Tudose on tv. ,,The entire medical sector focused on the care of the wounded.” The government has promised the affected communities to help. The mayor of Timisoara, Nicolae Robu, said about the situation in the city, something he had never seen before. ,,There are even trucks leveled”.
