Hurricane “Irma” covered American state of Florida. Previously it was evacuated, but not all were able to leave the disaster zone. Among them was one of the owners of Tesla, who contacted the company and told that he could not reach the evacuation zone. After this treatment Tesla has released a temporary patch that removes the restriction lock battery — this allowed the car Tesla Model X60D and Model S60 to drive on a single charge for 60 miles.
The driver who turned in Tesla, said that he could not get to a safe zone and stood 60 kilometers from it. According to the owner of the car, drive there on a single battery charge had not happened. Tesla very quickly responded to the appeal and issued a temporary “patch” of the software, removing twenty percent locking capacity of the batteries. It is possible to increase the range of travel on all basic models of the Tesla. Interim upgrade works on all machines of the company located in the disaster area.
Thanks to the patch, the owners X60D Model and Model S60 will be able to use the entire volume of batteries until September 16, after which the capacity of the batteries will limit again, returning it to the factory default values.
Saving people from a hurricane, Tesla has unlocked the batteries of their cars.
