Canadians have developed a universal self-driving car system

The canadian company Magna International, specializing in the production of auto parts, announced that its engineers have created a self-driving car system, which does not need an external lidar and bulky body kit on the vehicle body. Development of canadian experts assumes the availability of the necessary equipment, but unlike other solutions, Max4 — so-called their autopilot — can be fully integrated in the machine frame. This approach will not only help to keep a presentable appearance of the car, but will protect expensive equipment. In addition, the development is suitable for a wide range of vehicles.

Components of unmanned systems has been developed, tested and ready to work. Reuters reports that to install the new autopilot engineers will independently and to order. The system of Autonomous driving Max4 will allow the driver to decide when it is needed. Therefore, the owner of the car will be able at will to turn on and off the autopilot with a single button located on the instrument panel.

Autopilots are developed by the specialists of different companies, but more often they are pre-installed in the car — does the company Tesla. But many do not like this approach, so other companies are trying to work in the other direction, creating a universal system of driving, which you can equip any car, regardless of brand and year of manufacture.
