According to the press service, RIA “Novosti” with reference to the state Corporation “Roscosmos”, the specialists of Russian space Agency approved the design layout of the station “Luna-25”, developed in the framework of the development of the project “Luna-glob”. Moreover, not so long ago Russian scientists have even chosen the optimum landing site of the probe.
As reported in the report of the General Director of JSC “NPO Lavochkin”, responsible for the implementation of the mission, Sergey Lemeshevsky,
“Automatic interplanetary station “Luna-25″ will be the first mission in the framework of the Russian lunar program. The project aims to create an automated probe for a comprehensive research on the lunar surface in the circumpolar region. The total implementation period is 3.5 years. All activities of this project will be completed within the scheduled time”.
In addition, the head of NPO Lavochkin stressed the need for dissemination of lessons learned at all stages of the ROC “Luna-glob” (part of which is “Luna-25”) and the international project “Eczemas”.
It is worth mentioning that the “Moon-25” is part of the Russian lunar program of research and practical use of the moon and circumlunar space automatic interplanetary stations. The project aims to launch robotic probes, orbital part which needs to carry out remote sensing studies and choice of suitable sites for future landers. The lander will study the surface near the South pole of the moon. The start of large-scale space mission is scheduled for 2019.
