Better late than never. The Agency for strategic initiatives (ASI) has officially announced the creation of a Federal education program “Cyber Russia”, whose main goal will be training in schools and universities of Russia specialists in creating computer and mobile video games and applications virtual and augmented reality. The initiative was presented to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, he approved of such an undertaking. Partners of the project were companies such as Epic Games, Unity, SAP, Business incubator of Moscow state University, Tomsk state University and Federation of computer sports of Russia.
“Participants of the educational program will teach game design, creation of custom scripts and samples of operation of devices of virtual, augmented and mixed reality, the development and optimization of VR/AR applications for PC and mobile platforms,” reads the official press release.
In test mode, the program will be launched in September 2017 on the basis of far Eastern Federal University. Its students and alumni, the University administration will offer a master’s program at augmented, virtual and mixed reality. Until the end of 2017 will join this initiative also the SKOLKOVO Institute of science and technology, where starts a two-year educational program on technologies of virtual and augmented reality, and now popular the blockchain (the distributed database for digital transactions). By 2019 it is planned to launch the relevant graduate programs in 15 universities of the country.
Russian students will also be able to participate in the new program. On the basis of Moscow educational institutions “Democenter”, as well as in the educational center “Perimeter” of the city of Makhachkala will offer students two-year program of additional education on video game development and mobile applications. Similar programmes are also running in schools of Tomsk, Vladivostok and Khabarovsk. The organizers of the project plan thus, to encourage Russian students to disclose their talents, and to inspire them towards self-actualization and the creation of unique projects.
