Poland in action against judicial reform

Thousands of Poles are Sunday in the big cities, the street merged to protest against the judicial reforms of the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS). That according to them an end to the independence of judges and undermine the democracy.

The Polish parliament, where PiS a majority, took Friday a law that the representatives of the people a greater say in the appointment of judges. According to critics, is that a violation of the constitution, that the separation of powers requires.

The conservative and eurosceptic party of Jaroslaw Kaczynski launched last week a draft law to all the judges of the Supreme court to replace, except those who are chosen by the minister of Justice. “Shame, shame”, cried the demonstrators in Warsaw, waving Polish and european union flags. They called Kaczynski a “dictator.”
