Robot from Toyota began to help disabled at home

Electronic assistants HSR (Human Support Robot) in Toyota created a few years ago. These robots are equipped with manipulators and is able to move quite quickly, focusing on specific labels in the space. So they are already used in some hospitals in Japan, but recently one of these robots was accordingly modified, and then moved to the house of Romulo Carmago, paralyzed from the neck down the veteran was wounded in Afghanistan.

Due to the fact that Romulo is almost completely paralyzed, it is difficult to carry out even the most ordinary activities, therefore in the home it helps the robot HSR, which can close the curtains, draw the water, turn on the lights or open the door.

Romulo gives commands to the robot using the stylus — he holds his mouth, pressing so on the desired item displayed on the tablet display, which equipped his chair.

Two years ago, Toyota has founded a new division which will develop artificial intelligence and robots. Probably soon HSR will be replaced by other, more advanced models.
