GENEVA –
Nearly half a million Syrians who had fled for war this year have returned to the house. The vast majority, 440,000 people, was in Syria remained. More than 31,000 people from neighbouring countries returned. Those figures brought the UNHCR, the refugee organisation of the UN, Friday, to the outside.
Most of the returnees come from the cities of Aleppo, Hama, Homs and the capital Damascus. That they dare to return indicates once again that the security situation in parts of the country is improved. A spokesman for the UNHCR speaks of “a significant trend and significant numbers.”
