According to experts of the European space Agency, the telescope PLATO, to build and launch, which began in 2014, will help in finding twins of Earth and habitable exoplanets.
Project Manager at EKA PLATO Gizon Laurent explained that the new telescope will be able to fully characterize the properties of stars, will help in observing their vibrations and allows professionals to calculate their age, mass and size. In addition, with the help of PLATO in EKA will be able to calculate these parameters and have planets orbiting them.
The idea to create a telescope quickly found support from EKA, and then it was decided to begin work and research the Agency began to develop the design and consider the device of a telescope, because it was necessary to decide what equipment to deliver.
Yesterday, the developer’s plan was approved, and this means that soon the command, the ESA will begin to build a telescope. It is planned that it will start in 2026 with the help of the carrier rocket Soyuz from French Guiana.
