Scientists of the Russian quantum center has developed and tested in practice the technology of “quantum blockchain”. According to the developers, they did it first in the world.
The blockchain is a way of distributed storage and verification of the financial, commercial and other data. In this case, the blockchain secure methods of quantum cryptography. Article with the results of the experiment are posted on the Preprint server ArXiv.org.
A group of researchers in the RCCs have developed a platform of the blockchain, in which you can use quantum key distribution – quantum cryptography. Under certain network configurations, this allows you to abandon elements of the blockchain that are vulnerable to attacks using a quantum computer. The presence of the members of the network quantum communications imposes additional requirements when adding a new block to the chain. Thus, a quantum blockchain provides protection against attacks using a quantum computer.
As the developers say, it makes the Russian blockchain uncrackable even by Russian hackers. The development was tested on a heterogeneous network of quantum communication created by RCCs using the lines of “Gazprombank”. In a network with three nodes was shown a method of forming blocks.
