Slowly but surely, virtual reality technology is gaining momentum. More and more people are interested in buying a VR device for entertainment, movies, education, or just out of curiosity. Three major player in the VR market has released its headset only last year, and during this short period of time they managed to achieve serious success in promoting unusual for most people technology. If early were skeptics who did not believe in the success of the venture, now their is less and less.
Let’s start with the fact that the research firm Nielsen yesterday published some very interesting data collected during a large-scale poll. It turns out 51% of respondents know what a VR or AR headset. The company informed about these devices, heard only 28% of respondents. Among gamers awareness of VR headsets and games has increased from 37% to 63%.

Therefore, at the moment of sale this headset has exceeded 1 200 000 boxes, that the Japanese manufacturer is very good, considering how young the market. SuperData experts suggest that by 2017, Sony sells about 2.6 million of its set.
As for the main competitors of the Japanese, they are not doing so well. The second place on sales is HTC, which managed for the first quarter of 2017 to sell 95 000 their headsets Vive. Company Facebook lagging behind with 64, 000 sold helmets Oculus Rift. By the end of this year is expected to be sold 553 000 sets HTC Vive and 346 000 Oculus Rift.
