NVIDIA first demonstrated a multiuser VR system

Today’s games for virtual reality, as a rule, assume that play them will be one person. Tentative steps in the direction of multiplayer done, but the progress is not so significant. For example, in the game Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes the player in the VR headset will disarm the bomb and his friends read him saperskoy instructions. There are multiplayer shooters like RIGS or the upcoming Farpoint, but there are people playing on the Network, but not in the same room. The company NVIDIA, apparently, anticipating future trends, demonstrated their first VR system, designed for several people.

NVIDIA is one of the few companies that is actively promoting the virtual reality technology on the hardware level. It and is clear: the more sold demanding VR headsets, the more people will buy a powerful graphics card company. One player is all well and good, but several is much more difficult in terms of implementation. The computer in this case you will need to connect multiple VR devices, each of which not only requires a lot of free ports, but also a lot of computational power.

My first multiplayer VR station, the company showed the press during the exhibition, the GPU Technology Conference. The prototype system was a pretty large box, inside of which were installed four accelerator Nvidia Quadro P6000. As headsets system used four sets of HTC Vive. First one system was simultaneously connected to four users acting in the walls of one small room.

The chief architect of NVIDIA That Kaye sure is represented in the exhibition technology unlimited possibilities. After all, so you can create unprecedented entertainment involving several friends in the same virtual environment. Virtual amusement parks, arcade halls, adventure games, shooters, quests – all these no longer have to enjoy alone. Potentially you could even imagine that one day it will be possible to attend lectures at the University, simply wearing the headset and behind virtual desks with their classmates.
