And that we find fun.
What concerns me was the Range Rover Velar is one of the big surprises of the motor Show in Geneva. No months – if not years geleur with conceptcars, as they Range Rover quite often do, but just direct a snaarstrak production model on the show floor. Directly, there was also a whole range of engines available, a 2.0 diesel with 180 hp to the fine 3.0 V6 with a supercharger from the F-Type S, good for 380 hp. Although that is anything but poor, the Velar therefore not against powerhouses like the Porsche Macan Turbo Performance Package (440 hp), Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 (S) (476/510 hp) and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (510 hp).
Fortunately, there is still SVR. These three letters distinguish the fastest Jaguars and Range Rovers of their lesser brethren and have so far always a blubberdikke V8 under the hood. Although the Porsche and the Alfa the with zespitters do, it seems land Rover to hold on to the achtcilinder. The 5.0 V8 with supercharger from the F-Type R appears in front of a Velar which is currently being tested on the Nürburgring.
That block we know, of course, not only from the F-Type R, it is also already in the Range Rover Sport SVR. In that car, is that block good for 550pk (and a load of noise), and the Velar with the competition well past the review will give. On paper at least. Porsche and Alfa work the excellent for their car’s handle to be able to with the excess power. The big question is whether the British will also be successful, or that they lack refinement to solve with a large spoonful of extra often. Both options are fine.
At the earliest we will have the Velar SVR at the end of this year get to see, though it may also simply 2018 are honored to be the agile Range Rover to the dealers. That is probably also the perfect place for this car to spot, because with such a thick V8 is probably a larger part of the purchase price to The Hague than to Conventry…
