The police warns: do not put any photos online of your driver’s license, because criminals love it!
It is so seductive: you’ve just got your pink card picked up at the town hall and to make the world aware of this wonderful step on the road to mobile independence, mik a photo on Facebook of yourself with your newly minted drivers license. There are even driving schools who are proud to be the driving licences of their successful pupils online swing. Do not!
The police will increasingly have to deal with criminals who abuse this kind of snapshots, warns the National Hotline Internetoplichting. They are, in particular, often of Facebook picked and will be abused by fraudsters who are on dating sites with “legitimate” money. The send of a photo of a person that his driving licence is a devious trick to build trust with victims. Also the trade in fake tickets for concerts and festivals is often supported by a picture of someone with a driver’s license. Scammers use the photos for an identity to steal, and then if that person the tickets via email to sell.
The police advice is to never trusting people who identify yourself on the internet with photos with their driving accordingly. And if you are not a victim of this form of fraud, make sure especially that you have no photos of your driver’s license (or other identification) on the web late swing, how proud you are!
