Every year billions are spent on the maintenance of the national road network. By the rock-hard slijtageslag of life walk roads damage and wrinkles, and finally, they are replaced by new asphalt. Rijkswaterstaat is now coming up with a means to fight the aging process. Of the 29 tested roads, 72% indicate that there is a clear difference.

That last is a sort of ironic note, but the cream for roads is real and here. The stuff is developed with the help of Heijmans and the TU Delft and heals cracks in the road surface, making this three to four years longer. This allows the cost of the maintenance of our roads down and people do less often to account for road closures for road works, according to a spokesman of the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat.

Yesterday, the department in cooperation with building contractor Heijmans the cream is applied on eight miles of the A27 between Breda and Oosterhout. On shorter journeys with the very open asphalt concrete (ZOAB have a lot of weight!) the positive effects of the ointment already proven. Also, the cream no adverse consequences for, for example, noise pollution, and drainage of water.
