At the conference for developers Google I/O in 2016, which takes place in mountain view (CA) with 18 to 20 may, Google introduced today a new app for video calls called Google Duo. In fact, it is a competitor to Apple’s FaceTime.
As planned by the developers, the application should simplify the process of making video calls, ensures high quality video even with a bad connection, as well as full encryption. There are also several features that distinguish Google Duo from the crowd of competitors. One of the highlights was the preview feature called “knock knock” (knock knock), when the video of the interlocutor is displayed even before the user answers the call.
Google is implementing Duo HD video (up to 720p) and uses the new Internet Protocol QUIC, developed by the same team as the WebRTC Protocol. Can seamless switch between cellular and Wi-Fi, so you can not worry about call interruption.
Google Duo will be available for Android and iOS in the summer of 2016.
