No designer has so much for the brand Porsche served as our ‘own’ Harm Lagaaij. Not only he drew a lot of Porsches, and a passer-by put he’s also one of the most special BMW’s on paper.

Harm Lagaaij is at the end of 1946 was born in The Hague, with the right a babyboomer so. He studies at the IVA and going in the late ’60 Simca work. Already in 1971 he moves to Porsche and about his time at Simca is but little known. At Porsche, he can immediately full on the container, at that moment, leans to the brand is strong on the what stricken in age looking 911 and there is also the urgent need for a successor for the very successful 914.

Both jobs are to Lagaaij spent. The 911 get in 1973, his first major facelift, the so-called G-model. This is especially to recognize the reflector between the taillights, the thick bumpers and the few to absent chrome. It is also the 911 in which the first Turbo version appears, the famous 930. The peculiar 914 is followed by Lagaaij signed 924. Maybe not such a classic beauty like the 911, but the design is particularly timeless. The 924 is advanced to 944 and 968 and remains eventually to 1995, is in production!

About timeless voice, also the Porsche 928 is of the hand of Lagaaij. This came in 1977 at the market and kept it also off until 1995. 1977 is also the year in which Lagaaij Porsche turns to Ford Germany, where he until 1985 working. Just as of his career at Simca, about this Ford-period but little is known. However, this list is not only populated by Porsches, because in ’85 moved Lagaaij to BMW Technik, where he is the prominent Z1 on paper.

In 1989, returns to the designer back to Porsche, this time as head of the design department. From his pen flow, among other things, the previously named 968, but also the 993, 996 and 997. Perhaps even more importantly than the different generations of 911 are the cars that Porsche new customers to the showroom, know to lure: the first-and second-generation Boxster, the Cayman, and, above all, the Cayenne. As icing on the cake appears in 2004, the Carrera GT. In the same year is going to Harm Lagaaij retired, nine years later, very rightly, with a royal ribbon to be distinguished for his proven services.
