Yes, he is a two-wheeled deficit, but Freude am Fahren is also this BMW central.

BMW is the best represented brand on the national motorcycle market. The ageing motorcyclist prefer the solid Germans apparently above the high revving Japanese and the seductive Italians. Nevertheless, you should not all BMW’s on two wheels immediately associate it with something thick grey men with facial hair and a semi-full face helmet.

In 2008, surprised the BMW namely friend and enemy with the S 1000 RR (driving test). This 1000cc supersport was designed for participation in the Superbike World Championship and had 1000 copies be built for homologation. The model, however, proved to be a commercial success, and, therefore, this state of the art and extremely fast bike still in the price lists.

As alien as a standard S 1000 RR looks, as classic shows this instance. The design is obviously based on the endurance racers from the late ’70s and early ’80s, iconic bikes like the Suzuki GS 1000 and the Honda RCB1000. No BMW’s, the Germans were in those years hardly present in the motorsport.

In racing the more and, therefore, was there for the colour inspiration taken from the magnificent BMW 3.0 CSL Art Car. This beautiful racer from 1975 was the first of a long series, and was from the hand of Alexander Calder, the car shortly before his death painted. It would be his final work. This did not go straight to the museum, the French driver and the client for the work Hervé Poulain raced the 3.0 CSL during the 24 hours of Le Mans that year. He fell early and of, what is directly the end of the active life of the Art Car meant.

Now we can get acquainted with this new work of art, that is powered by a four-cylinder with 193 horsepower at a dry weight of 183 kilos. The standard S 1000 RR gets with specs of 300 km/h, though we saw recently a lady that was there a large spoonful on top of did. This copy has a lesser streamline and will therefore lose the aerodynamic drag, but top speed is of course not the most important. That is of course the appearance nice by turns can bark.
