Toyota calls new Supra probably S-FR

The successor of the legendary Toyota Supra will get a less telling title than his ancestor: S-FR.

At least, that is the latest badge that the Japanese have registered at the American Patent and Trademark Office. On the basis of the naming of the Toyota FR-S (Front-engined, Rear wheel drive, Sports car), this can stand for “Super Front-engined, Rear-wheel drive,” according to Autoguide, that the name registration (submitted on may 28, j.l.) discovered. Incidentally explained Toyota was also previously the name “Supra” again.

Toyota wants a sports car above and below the current Scion FR-S (which for us goes through life as a Toyota GT-86) in its line-up. The variant at the top of the food chain is the spiritual successor of the Supra, and will be styling partly to borrow from the FT-1 Concept, the bloedgeile concept that we are now a couple of times to admire at car shows. The car is currently in collaboration with BMW have developed.

Or they the thing well “Supra”, “S-FR” or “Giant Turd”: it does not matter to me, if he there but damn fast. What a sexy device which is FT-1 Concept anyway.
