From 2015 something is going through the South African desert whizzing that a cheetah does fade to: the Bloodhound SSC, a vehicle that for the first time a landsnelheid of more than 1,600 km/h . So he sits in the other.
It is a project waaar many an engineer in his fingers for licking: more than 1,600 km/h (1.000 mph) over land, which is a huge improvement compared to the current record: 1227,986 km/h. This was in 1997, set by Andy Green, the same man who now sits behind the ‘wheel’ of the vehicle that, in 2010, as the prototype was to shine more in London, and 2 years ago his first rakettest got.
Some facts: there are only already in the monocoque to 10,000 man-hours, and in addition to carbon fiber, there is a lot of forged aluminium in the vehicle, that 800 kg is packed into 40 kg of remains. The wheels measuring 35 inches, weighing 100 kg and will speeds more than 10,000 times per minute. As Jesse Pinkman in the ever so eloquent stated: Yeah science, bitch!
Now there are sat people who believe that we have the budget to do this, better to schools or the poor hungry children. Perhaps, but with such an institution, we lived still in the middle ages, fortunately there are still visionaries who want to embark on complex projects like this. Who knows what innovations come out roll. Video on autojunk.
