Mitsubishi recalls almost 1700 Outlander Plug-In Hybrids back. The cars can stop, because of a problem with the battery.

The Outlanders may be in a limp home touching and eventually even starvation, if the voltage in the battery becomes too low. That would be caused by a problem in the software. Mitsubishi confirmed the news compared to BNR Nieuwsradio, but the spokesman hastened to add that there is currently no dangerous situations arise.

“If the problem opspeelt, then supplies the propulsion battery power more. The car gives a clear signal on the dashboard. Then you have, in principle, still sufficient time to pass along the side of the road,” said Willem Jan Oosterveld on behalf of the manufacturer.

Mitsubishi calls a total of 1649 Outlanders back and gives these customers by letter, informed about the issues. It does not, incidentally, the Japanese also 3000 other Outlanders back due to a faulty hitch. This would make the brake lights overloaded.
