Alex Roy met zijn 'bewijs'
The speed-obsessed Alex Roy claims to have been landsnelheidsrecord from New York to L. A. to have caught up. This time, however, there is no BMW M5 used.

Let’s immediately make a reservation of places: we know what date it is today, and perhaps the following story is a large, well-crafted hoax, that’s pretty possible. However, Roy has taken the trouble to list in detail and 6,500 words ‘attempt’ to describe, where these 3 men with their CLS 55 from the books would have been.

Opposite TTAC describes how Roy on 28 and 29 march jl. in a Infiniti Q50 with a Nissan GT-R driveline (light tuned to 654 – 850+ hp) and an extra fuel tank of 55 gallons, bringing the total to 75 gallon (284 liter) capacity.

The car, which on E85 reed, did an average of 1 in 5. At strategic locations were along the side of the road, refueling crews, and Roy had the use of 3 reconnaissance planes. To lose no time with rijderswissels got the right-hand side of the ‘steer by wire Infiniti also features a steering wheel and pedals.

In total there was 3 times stopped, and thanks to ideal conditions was Los Angeles after 26 hours and 28 minutes is achieved, good for an average speed of more than 170 km/h. The whole story read here.

The key question is whether we have here for the crazy to be taken or not, which it is difficult to judge, but I tend to drift (thanks to the “Spy Hunter” Modification-segment), a little to the hoax, one in which much effort is put into it. Consider the article in that case but as nice fiction to read. Roy claims that the recordauto later this year on a autoconcours is shown, and perhaps at the Goodwood hillclimb participate…

About the chosen date:

“An April 1st announcement was the obvious choice. Why? It’s the first press day of the New York Auto International Auto Show, allowing me easy access to automotive and general media for interviews.”
