Nissan Z Concept: forgotten concept (1999/2001)

240Z, 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX, a series of successful sports cars from Datsun/Nissan, where around the turn of the century needed a new name had to be added. Two concepts, one from 1999 and one from 2001, plaveiden the way for the 350Z.
At the end of years ’90 runs the Nissan 300ZX (Z32) on its last legs. The sports car went up in 1989 in production and it will ultimately be up to 2000. A successor then let another three years, but in 1999 we get ordinary people a first look at Nissan’s new sports car. At the North America International Auto Show, they pull the cloth of the Z Concept.
Although the basic form of the 350Z can be in the wrong, does the car still pretty of the final production model. The car, according to Nissan, paying homage to the Datsun 240Z, without falling into retro-design. It is a clean sports car that is clearly from the 90s dates. Under the hood a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 200 hp coming from the 240SX. That is not really a tribute to the Nissan Z-series, because they all had a six cylinder.
That put Nissan in 2001 right with the second Z Concept, again presented at the NAIAS. This time there was no round of the ’90s-lines, but tight and strands forming, ready for a new millennium. Literally, because this second Nissan C Concept differs only on details of the 350Z in 2003. Purpose of Nissan: compete on performance with the Porsche Boxster, but at a much more attractive price. An atmospheric 3.5 V6, in the base similar to that in the Skyline, squeezes out almost 300 hp.
