Tesla gives its patents freely, but why?

Tesla wants every motorist on the electric car. Independently if that is still not completely and therefore, the company of Elon Musk, now patent free.

The manufacturer of the Model S shows it, finally realistic enough to see that the support of other brands can use. Of course, the electric car is making a rise, but Tesla can still not compete with BMW or Toyota, to name but two examples. The vision of Musk, a world full of electric cars, is therefore still far away.

The man behind Tesla hopes that his efforts are going to pay by the patents of the brand. Or, as he himself very nobly describes it: “It is hard a lot of time to put into a company, but it is easy a lot of time to put in a good purpose. We believe that we can do for the world with a technique that is accessible for everyone.”

Of course, there is a core of truth in this, but we can not to the idea of tapping that Musk hopes that his step eventually bake with money. That is twelve billion dollars in his bank account, he has not earned by anything free to share.
