So, they are indeed no longer made.

In addition to the rally activities and, in a grey past, the illustrious D50 Formula 1 car, was Lancia also pretty busy in sportscar racing. The LC1 Group 6 car was the outline to the full Group C-racer who had to take against the might of Porsche 956: the LC2.

Perhaps not entirely surprisingly, was under the hood of this beauty of an engine of a Ferrari. The Italians took the V8 from the 308 QV in hand with two turbochargers of KKK, and the 3-litre V8 was good for a heart-pounding 850 hp. Of course, all these horses to the tarmac via the rear wheels, turn went through a vijfbak of Hewland.

Where the block of Ferrari came, ignored the Abarth and Dallara to the car itself. Jointly developed by these two great names the chassis for their own account, under the direction of Cesare Fiorio. The latter would later have for Prost F1 and Minardi in Formula 1 are active.

The LC2, it experienced its debut at the 1000 km of Monza in 1983. This ended up with the Lancia in stylish Martini pajamas immediately on the pole, but bandenproblemen threw during the rest of the season spanner in the works. The season, it knew the LC2 immediately the end at Monza to win, not in the last place thanks to the switch to the tyre manufacturer Dunlop. Also Le Mans that year fine, but problems with the gearbox verpestten the party.

At 1985 was the LC2 is not more able to cope with the 956-offensive of Porsche, especially thanks to technical malheur. Only the 1,000 km of Spa was that year a prey for the Italian manufacturer, though that race ended prematurely due to the fatal crash of highly talented Stefan Bellof.

In ’86 went the candle of the LC2 slowly, but fortunately we have the photos yet. Who does not gets enough of this beautiful racer, especially the video below to check out. However, that bit that speakers are properly open.
