We already wrote that yesterday, Microsoft finally officially announced the beginning of the upgrade “elite” of smartphones based on Windows Phone 8.1 to a newer operating system — Windows 10 Mobile. However, not all smartphones with Windows Phone 8.1 can be updated at the moment.
As explained by Microsoft, the update will be carried out by stages, in the first wave of the update will receive only a few models, but in the end Windows 10 Mobile will come to more devices.
The first wave includes previous flagship — the Lumia 930 and 1520, cheaper, and more popular models 640, 640 XL and also the best-selling Lumia — 520.
Full list of devices that will receive the update looks like this: Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 1GB 636, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501.
According to Microsoft, availability of update to Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Phone 8.1 depends on factors such as device manufacturer, model, release, region, mobile operator, hardware limitations and so on.
For users easier to understand, can I install a new OS on a specific smartphone, Microsoft has released a special app — Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor. It must be installed from the Windows Store on your smartphone and check with it whether the upgrade to Windows 10 for Mobile devices.
